Falconry does seem a tricky sport to turn into fiction - are there any successful examples? Think it works brilliantly as a motif in Clavell's Shogun (to turn to a very different kind of book!) but it's a very minor part of the whole. For that matter, think the hawks contribute a lot in the other books but they of course they are always a much more minor element.
