Completely agree with this. All of Peter's completely unwise actions have been due to him confusing fearlessness with courage - as when he goes hunting and hates it (not to mention the heights thing in FL). I do find it really interesting to see his reactions to betrayal. I can't remember whether it's in this book or another where Nicola remarks that Foley, despite being a traitor, was actually kind of a nice guy (and certainly kinder to her than Giles would have been in the same situation), and Peter reacts completely as he does as Malise to Rupert later in Peter's Room, with disgust and anger - it's quite a visceral reaction, and surprises Nicola.

I don't have my copy of Peter's Room so my contributions to the read-along will be somewhat hazy...
