I wonder if Karen, waiting in the carpark for Edwin, Nicola and Rose, is thinking that the whole thing has been a hideous mistake. Presumably she had not expected her entire family to dislike Edwin, nor one of the children to make a desperate bolt for 'home'. But in addition to the obvious, she has certainly had a glimpse of Edwin's controlling and ill-tempered side by now.
