I liked ajhalluk's speculation about Patrick's future here - not quite a missionary monk, but I imagine it would piss off his mother all the same. Agree very much that Peter doesn't seem fully committed to the Navy - though there's that future thought in Run Away Home, 'here I am, afloat', and I can't see him abandoning boats, though imagine he could quite well combine that with travelling around the world as a journalist.
