She said that about Karen, not Ann. I didn't forget Ann - Lawrie points out she doesn't like horses, she's scared of them and doesn't want to ride. I think it's pretty obvious that Karen doesn't want to ride especially either, at least at that point in time, or she too would have hired a horse.

And Peter did end up hunting, even if it were only because Rowen lent him the horse. So it's still only one member who ends up hiring a horse.
