Mastermind contestant to answer questions on Antonia Forest's books

How exciting, and best of luck to the AF buff concerned! Is it any of us? Sadly I will be away from home that night but I will definitely get my husband to record that episode for me!

It's not me. Alas (or maybe thank goodness). I auditioned for the next series, just because I wanted to do the novels of Antonia Forest, but I got dinged: now I know why - someone was already doing it!

Did you stop the not-so-MasterMind mistake on the question? Kingscote does not provide the background for the majority of the Marlow books - 4 out of 10, even if the Shakespeare ones are left out.

And why should the Wombles be disallowed? They've more books than AF, plus a long-running TV series and a pop career!

Someone did EBD and her books about ten years ago, and someone else was going to do her again last series, I assume for their second round questions, as it didn't actually come up. I know this because a researcher emailed me and asked if I'd be willing to lend them my full set of hardbacks for them to use. I declined....

I wonder if you should have refused?
Do you remember that the BBC restored all Helene Hanff's books to their 1930s glory when they borrowed them in 197whatever it was?

In their letter I think they said it can't have been done in the last three years.
