If I actually post this in the correct community, it would be a start wouldn't it? *sigh*

I have a really quick query, basically how old is Giles in RAH?

I think his age is mentioned in Autumn Term so I could work it out, but I've lent my copy to someone.

It seems he's a minimum of 7 years older than the twins, which puts him at 21 and a half; but could be older, depending on how big a gap there is between him and Karen. If you click on "Mrs Marlow's Obstetric Record" on the left, and read through the 84-answer thread, you'll probably find far more about the Marlow timeline than you wanted to know!

Well, Karen is 18 in Autumn Term, so she's 20 in RAH. So Giles has to be at least nine months older than that. Hopefully a good deal more, given his mother's subsequent feats in childbearing.

Personally, I always think of him as about 2 1/2 years older than Karen.

I'm not sure his age is mentioned in Autumn Term - just had a quick flick through and didn't spot it. There is however a a reference to 'the other lieutenant' in Port Wade, Giles being the first one, and sub-lieutenants have to be at least 20. I tend to read him as about 21 there so 23ish by Run Away Home, but that may be because I want Mrs Marlow to have the occasional short rest between babies. As colne_dsr says, we've tried to work this out a few times!
