Oh, I'm so glad you love the poems too! I think AF has a real gift for picking out potent texts and working them in very cleverly -- notably also in End of Term and The Thuggery Affair, but to an extent all the way through the series.
Yes, it's Pam who says 'if someone wants you to do something you don't want to do, say so'. I suppose it's very Forest that Ginty gets no chance to explain and is entirely seen as being in the wrong by the family, even though Rowan definitely did push her into it. (Also, this is the chapter in which Rowan says, 'Bossy I am not.' -- LOL OKAY ROWAN, if you say so.)
