And yes, I agree: Ginty does seem the most likely to leave. I think she takes her shames and failings to heart, is bad at re-building damaged bonds (not to stray too much into later books, but...), and also, very importantly, will find an easy welcome in new circles. It might well be something of a relief to her to leave: especially when we get the message, again and again, that she's being found wanting by one member of the family after another. I think Ann has a jolly hard time too, undoubtedly, but her stronger sense of self, and her firm set of values, will lead her always to try to work at mending things, and at returning.
