Rowan's not a very happy person anyway, is she? Her sardonic outlook on life can be very funny, and there's something to admire in the pitilessness of it, but I can't imagine it's very much fun from the inside, as it were
This fascinates me: I think that Rowan's competence and self-sufficiency (99% of the time) seem so complete -- even a little off-putting -- to me that I'm inclined to take them at face value and presume that she manages her own life as effectively as she manages everything else. I hadn't really considered whether she was happy (is anyone happy in AF?). But you're quite right, there's no evidence that she is, and it seems more likely that she isn't, very. How interesting.
