Yes, I think in my muddled way that's what I was thinking of: I haven't read much of Lewis's apologetic work (Screwtape, but not Mere Christianity), but it always seemed rather madly unconvincing (and a bit intellectually cheap) to me. I think it's notable that Miranda revolves it for a minute and rejects it, though, she just considers it as a mode of faith that might work for someone like 'Your Ann'. And if Forest was ever considering a conversion narrative for Miranda I am VERY glad she ditched the idea.
