When we see Nicola first in Atumn term she always seems to be on the go and physically quite restless. That to me suggests she doesn't like "padding" and overmuch description in a book - is this her problem with Dickens? I could see Rowan, Karen or an older Nicola liking Sketches by Boz, though. Or even Ann, in a surprises-the-rest-of-her-family sort of way.
