I think Miranda does pledge her loyalty when she thinks it's deserved (I don't mind an arrogant streak in characters!) I have trouble imagining that she confided as much as she did about her Jan Scott-watching to Sandra as she did to Nicola, I think that was a big mark of trust on her part.
