Me too! And at 16 I was totally a Ricardian (having read The Daughter of Time, which obvs AF had too), and I still would love to go to a proper Latin Mass someday -- I would've been all for the madly trad versions of everything if I were in Patrick's position. It's partly family tradition/loyalty, partly genuine religious conviction, and partly -- I'd say -- coming from the same impulse as membership in the Society for Creative Anachronism, which I can also imagine an alternative-universe Patrick being into (with his enjoyment of chivalric pretend games and hunting and other pursuits that might be classed as "period reenactments" [the Hunt, too, is madly trad]).
