Why would she be desperate for children if she were with a man and not with a woman? I can see that you might more easily fall into having children in a heterosexual relationship, but you said that it was a later decision on her part, so I don't understand why that wouldn't happen if she were with a woman? Also, she's a farmer. She's hard;y likely to be squeamish about insemination!
