Drabble plotbunny post
Aug. 15th, 2006 06:22 pmComment here with ideas for drabbles that you'd love to see written. Think of it as a Noah's Ark for plot bunnies.
I'll put the 'post your drabbles here' post up in a day or so, unless anyone else gets madly inspired and wants to post their work immediately - I think seeing the 'post your drabbles here' post sitting there sadly with no comments might be enough to put people off, and also it would sink down peoples' friends list pages and they might forget about it.
You don't have to be signed up to the original thread to suggest plotbunnies or write drabbles - please just jump in. :) At the sensible suggestion of
gair, if you end up writing anything that you think might frighten the horses, please put it in your own LJ or host it somewhere else and leave a comment with a link to it, rather than putting the whole drabble in the comment.
Edited to add - I'm planning on putting up the 'post your drabbles here' post on Monday, unless anyone has any objections.
Things I'd really like to read:
Ann with her Patrol or her classmates
Ginty romance - I'd really like to see how she behaves with anyone other than Patrick (though if you want to write Ginty/Patrick by all means go ahead)
Anything set on a boat or in a hawkhouse written by someone who knows more than I do about hawks or boats
What Monica and Patrick would have made of each other if they ever actually met.

Date: 2006-08-15 07:05 pm (UTC)What does Rowan really think about being landed with the farm?
A flash of attraction between Patrick and Lawrie leading to fearsome embarrassment all round.
Daks' thoughts on being (apparently) the Only Dog in the Kennels.

And Miss Keith and an ill-assorted "Dirty Dozen" recruited and led by her niece defend Kingscote in the last ditch against Grendel's Mother and a host of myffic monsters from the vasty deeps.

How Lawrie Got Her Big Theatrical Break.
Miss Cromwell wins the lottery (suspend disbelief as necessary that she might play the lottery).
Anything involving any character from Archer's Goon (Diana Wynne Jones) and any Marlow.

Date: 2006-08-15 09:56 pm (UTC)I was about to say that didn't Mrs Lambert appear because Miss Carter went off round the world after winning the pools but then remembered that it was premium bonds, which isn't quite the same thing.
Pity, I quite liked the brief thought of them all sitting in the staff room arguing the likelihood of a score draw between Wade Abbas Rovers and Colebridge United.

Date: 2006-08-17 08:28 am (UTC)I'd like to read about:
Ginty and Ronnie Merrick - lots of scope for shock and scandal all round! And Mrs Marlow's reaction to finding out Ginty got pregnant at the Merricks' twelfth night party.
A blazing row between Karen and Edwin, as a result of which Kay moves out.
Fob (in years to come, clearly) making a brave attempt to seduce Peter.
Lawrie in a drunken state being seduced for the first time. And Nicola's reaction when she finds out (or catches them in flagranti).
Rowan telling Lois exactly what she thinks of her.
Lois and Giles.

Date: 2006-08-18 03:57 am (UTC)Lois in conversation with Forester's Miranda about Nicola. They'll need to have had a few drinks.
Rowan baffled and outraged when she's dumped by her boyfriend for somebody more sweet and fallible. Would be amusing if it was for Lawrie, actually, although a rather different scenario. In either case Rowan would be utterly incapable of understanding it.

Date: 2006-08-18 07:58 am (UTC)In addition to all the brilliant ideas above, I'd love to read something about Nicola and the rest of them in the sixth form, possibly from a staff point of view, or whether Tim did get to produce Saint Joan.
Nicola and Esther and Daks's first meeting at school after Run Away Home.
And I second

Date: 2006-08-21 08:03 pm (UTC)Any scene between Kay and Edwin before she tells her family (and us) about them--could be their meeting, his proposal, etc.
Moment when Rowan realizes how she's going to escape from the farm (what's her alternative?)
Nicola, frustrated, finally makes a move for Patrick, forcing him to confess... what? (After Gair's latest effort, though, perhaps those roles will be reversed)
