Comment here with ideas for drabbles that you'd love to see written. Think of it as a Noah's Ark for plot bunnies.

I'll put the 'post your drabbles here' post up in a day or so, unless anyone else gets madly inspired and wants to post their work immediately - I think seeing the 'post your drabbles here' post sitting there sadly with no comments might be enough to put people off, and also it would sink down peoples' friends list pages and they might forget about it.

You don't have to be signed up to the original thread to suggest plotbunnies or write drabbles - please just jump in. :) At the sensible suggestion of [livejournal.com profile] gair, if you end up writing anything that you think might frighten the horses, please put it in your own LJ or host it somewhere else and leave a comment with a link to it, rather than putting the whole drabble in the comment.

Edited to add - I'm planning on putting up the 'post your drabbles here' post on Monday, unless anyone has any objections.

Things I'd really like to read:

Ann with her Patrol or her classmates

Ginty romance - I'd really like to see how she behaves with anyone other than Patrick (though if you want to write Ginty/Patrick by all means go ahead)

Anything set on a boat or in a hawkhouse written by someone who knows more than I do about hawks or boats

What Monica and Patrick would have made of each other if they ever actually met.

Here's mine:

What does Rowan really think about being landed with the farm?

A flash of attraction between Patrick and Lawrie leading to fearsome embarrassment all round.

Daks' thoughts on being (apparently) the Only Dog in the Kennels.

Well, (grown-up) Nicola/Anquetil, to begin with.

After [livejournal.com profile] ankaret's post-modern effort, Patrick/Peter, OTP, natch

And Miss Keith and an ill-assorted "Dirty Dozen" recruited and led by her niece defend Kingscote in the last ditch against Grendel's Mother and a host of myffic monsters from the vasty deeps.

Claudie does pillow-talk with [insert character of choice].

The first encounter between Mrs. Merrick and Mrs. Marlow after Patrick is expelled (has this been done before?).

How Lawrie Got Her Big Theatrical Break.

Miss Cromwell wins the lottery (suspend disbelief as necessary that she might play the lottery).

Anything involving any character from Archer's Goon (Diana Wynne Jones) and any Marlow.

Sorry, can I add another one:

Patrick's PoV when he nearly jumps on Nicola.

I was about to say that didn't Mrs Lambert appear because Miss Carter went off round the world after winning the pools but then remembered that it was premium bonds, which isn't quite the same thing.

Pity, I quite liked the brief thought of them all sitting in the staff room arguing the likelihood of a score draw between Wade Abbas Rovers and Colebridge United.

Lol!!! Would be happy with either...

PS my Patrick/Peter effort seems to want to stop at 67 words, I guess this is too short to count?

Eeep! Suggest waiting for another day - I'm still tinkering around the edges of my mini-drabble (Flaubert has nothing on me when it comes to dragging out the writing process), and you never know, another day might mean other people have finished their drabbles too.

Didn't they all do a Staff Sweepstake for the Derby? I seem to remember Miss Cromwell complaining to Upper IV A that she hadn't had much luck that year - in the context of the favourite in the Grand National one year having fallen at the first fence and then Foinavon, a rank outside, went on to win it, meaning that Nicola had unexpectedly won the Form Prize because she hadn't mucked up her exams like Mirander and that one with the unpleasant father.

What Kay and Edwin said to one another after Nicola had rescued Rose from the paedophile.

Yes, of course. The staff room is clearly a secret gambling den. Or was the Derby Sweep just another nod to Murder Must Advertise?

I'd love a Rowan POV. Any time really, but particularly her take on the twins' progress in Autumn Term; or on the day Rose goes missing in RMF,

And a Giles POV woudl be great too. Maybe when he's at Dartmouth? It'd be fascinating to see the family through his eyes.

I totally assumed you meant under the stage until I read Ankaret's comment!

I'd like to read about:

Ginty and Ronnie Merrick - lots of scope for shock and scandal all round! And Mrs Marlow's reaction to finding out Ginty got pregnant at the Merricks' twelfth night party.

A blazing row between Karen and Edwin, as a result of which Kay moves out.

Fob (in years to come, clearly) making a brave attempt to seduce Peter.

Lawrie in a drunken state being seduced for the first time. And Nicola's reaction when she finds out (or catches them in flagranti).

Rowan telling Lois exactly what she thinks of her.

Lois and Giles.

Lois, almost against her will, does something extraordinarily nice for either Nicola or Rowan, leaving them to deal with grudging feelings of gratitude.

Lois in conversation with Forester's Miranda about Nicola. They'll need to have had a few drinks.

Rowan baffled and outraged when she's dumped by her boyfriend for somebody more sweet and fallible. Would be amusing if it was for Lawrie, actually, although a rather different scenario. In either case Rowan would be utterly incapable of understanding it.

Just catching up - so glad to see you're doing this.

In addition to all the brilliant ideas above, I'd love to read something about Nicola and the rest of them in the sixth form, possibly from a staff point of view, or whether Tim did get to produce Saint Joan.

Nicola and Esther and Daks's first meeting at school after Run Away Home.

And I second [livejournal.com profile] legionseagle's request for Nicola/Anquetil.

Sorry to sound ignorant but what does OTP stand for? And also lol which no-one in my other life seems to have heard of but which I see constantly?

OTP stands for "One True Pairing" and refers to the characters you ship (think are/should be a couple).

Lol stands for "laughing out loud".

Please write just whatever you like - I am sure if it is true to the spirit of the books I will enjoy it!

I am a little worried about the mention of post-watershed fic, whatever that is. Antonia Forest chose not to write for an "adult" audience, after all.

From: [identity profile] knityrowndalek.livejournal.com
I do hope you are going to write a "drabble" for us all to enjoy. I greatly enjoyed reading the fic on your journal, even the James and Lily story, though the Marauders aren't favourite characters of mine.

I'm sure anyone who writes 'adult', 'post-watershed', etc, will be careful to link with a warning, so you won't see anything you don't want to.

I'm ready to go - as ever mine's too long to be a drabble but it won't go shorter - so if you want me to kick off...

A few more bunnies:

Any scene between Kay and Edwin before she tells her family (and us) about them--could be their meeting, his proposal, etc.

Moment when Rowan realizes how she's going to escape from the farm (what's her alternative?)

Nicola, frustrated, finally makes a move for Patrick, forcing him to confess... what? (After Gair's latest effort, though, perhaps those roles will be reversed)

I'd like Patrick and Ginty's first kiss. Could be Rupert/Rosina if you prefer. Where and when are entirely up to you...
