Aren't there different ways of being dominant? We are told, when Nicola refuses to give way about the pony, that this is unusual. If we can say that Laurie is manipulative, can't we also say that this is her way of dominating. It also occurs to me that twinship within a large family has less of an impact on the twins themselves than it does in small family, there being so many other influences on their relationship.
