Esther's Term

I was hoping to re-read Forester48's wonderful fanfic, "Esther's Term", but she has deleted her journal, and I haven't found anywhere that it is archived (doesn't seem to be at middles common room, where part of it at least was posted).  Does anyone know if it is online anywhere, or have a copy that could be emailed?

Yeah I remember that all the Jan/Alicia stuff was going to be deleted, and that she'd been getting some comments about it or something, and it all sort of ended fairly suddenly. But I'd hoped that Esther's Term was maybe considered a bit 'safer' and had been archived somewhere. I couldn't find any Girls Own archives, as someone suggested in that thread, but maybe I wasn't looking in the right place. Middles Common Room had had a bit of it posted for a while, but it was all deleted from there too, as far as I can see.

Did no-one else save it on their computer then? I guess I only read it online - wish now I'd downloaded it and kept it!

I know. It's a real shame. I wonder also if there were so many more of us enjoying it that didn't make enough of a positive presence/comments etc that a few bad messages ended up spoiling it. I wish I'd done more now to let her know how much I loved it all!

I enjoyed it too. I always have trouble remembering that the scene where Nicola visits the village school on horseback isn't canon. I also really admired the way she wrote Peter.

I don't know whether it was the rude comments that drove her off, but I saw a couple and I'm sure they couldn't have helped. I'm not saying that no one should ever leave critical comments on fic, but some of the remarks along the lines of 'Waah, you didn't do it MY way' made my jaw drop. I thought Forester48 was remarkably courteous in dealing with them - probably much more so than I would have been - but it can't have been at all pleasant.

oh yes there's LOADS of stuff in it that I think of as canon now, or at least can't remember if it is or isn't, that's how natural sounding and totally convincing it all was.

forester 48, now biskybat posting. I couldn't help being flattered by the interest in Esther's Term into reposting it so it's in my new journal.

I didn't close my last journal because of bad comments but because I wasn't using it and thought anyone who wanted to read the fanfic in it had already done so. I did get one quite explicit piece of spam (nothing to do with the fanfic) but it wasn't repeated.

I like critical comments, as long as they're not abusive, and welcome errors and inconsistancies being pointed out.

Oh I'm glad that you are back and that your fanfic is in your journal again. I've enjoyed reading it for a second time, even though I did read it all those months ago!

I do hope that you'll continue to write more fanfic, as you do it so well... :) Would love another Kingscote story, or more Jan/Miranda stuff!
