For instance, one of the reasons that the "old Mass" was allowed was that Vatican 2 emphasized the importance of the bishops responding to the laity, and the Vatican responding to the bishops - hence the recent importance of the National Councils of Bishops and national Councils of Priests Also, Second Vatican emphasized the special relationship between Jews, Muslims and Christians, which makes it very odd that a Jewish convert (AF) was so opposed to it. (A friend of a friend knew her, and has said and written that AF was very pre-Vatican 2. I haven't direct knowledge of that.)
