I read "The Grand Sophie" (how the hell do you do italics here? Dashed if I can work it out!) recently. Georgette Heyer, yeah? Don't even remember the bit about the Jewish moneylender, but I didn't skip any, so I must've read it. GH is wonderful :)
re the 'story in a story' bits of Peter's Room: Nuh, I've never read 'em once. They looked dead dodgy an' stodgy to me the very first time I read P's R, so I never bothered after that.
