And I also approve of the Ann POV: on one hand it's a very un-Forest thing to have written, but I think it's about time someone gave her a proper personality.
I've been trying to think whether there's an Ann POV scene anywhere in the canon, and I can't think of one. Though that doesn't mean it isn't there staring everyone in the face like the scene where two men do have a conversation with no women around in Jane Austen.
I liked this very much, especially the Ann/Patrick talk. I don't think that Nicola would really have much to worry about - or did you mean her to have? I thought not, because Ann isn't hawkish or horsey enough to be a real threat ..... Wrenby Canonicorum is CLEVER!
No, I don't think she has anything very long-term to worry about, apart from the fact that Patrick is distractable (which he is, in canon, or he wouldn't be going about kissing Claudie).
