Also, it's very obvious that the twins and their problems are more sources of amusement than to be taken seriously. Actually, does Giles say anything at all to anybody without trying to sound flippant? I think he is extra annoyed with Nicola when she turns up in Port Wade because she threatens to make him look faintly ridiculous and only Giles is allowed to make people feel that about themselves.
In any conversation that either twin has with Giles she seems to shed a few years.
