I don't think so. I would (personally) quite imagine her as being called something delightfully incongrous and rather frilly.

I've always, completely illogically, linked it to Patrick's remark about loathing the matey informality of his teachers, when he says to Nicola something along the lines of: "I don't suppose your mistresses prance around saying 'Do call me Fanny, won't you?'"

For some reason, this has always made me think with enjoyment of Crommie (clearly being controlled by aliens) saying this to an aghast Miranda and Nicola. And anyway, Fanny Cromwell - what's not to love?
