Meeee! (you knew that, though.) I was grumpy yesterday when I read your message because my packet hadn't arrived, but it was waiting for me when I got home.
I can't go - I'll never be able to go to anything unless it's scheduled for a late November midweek get together. So you will have to keep me posted - I expect a full report.
Akcherley I have never been to any literary conference type thingies since I was a student in the 80s. I think I might be mildly phobic about it. I wouldn't mind if it was on the academic side but I don't think I'd be keen on the handcraft your own Abbey queen costume sort of workshops which seem to feature a bit at some of these events. But I would like the chance to read the main talks etc
I hope that doesn't include briefer-than-briefs and glitter.
I can't actually think of any mention of the Kingscote girls doing crafts that weren't Play-related, unless you count Art lessons or Nicola sloping off under pretence of carpentering.
I went to the FOCS one a couple of years ago, that wasn't too bad in that respect - there were beadwork workshops and the like, but I managed to avoid those. Lots of singing, which also mostly avoided, but the talks were very good on the whole.
I'm not going to the AF conference, as it's also the GGB one this year, and I decided that at that price I would have to choose between them, and GGB won.
Thanks for mentioning that - the new lot of single rooms were all gone by the time I emailed Sally Phillips, but I've got someone's cancellation, so won't have to wander Bournemouth at night like a lost soul in search of a B&B. :)
