I really enjoyed
[profile] thesprog's account of the conference.
More please!
[personal profile] coughingbearsang - and someone mentioned missing Susan Hall's paper on  the uses of fiction within the Marlows' world. What was that about - apart from the Brontes and the (I suppose) Brideshead allusion about the Merricks' chapel?
Do tell!

Um, I sang Under the Greenwood Tree (Walton), Orpheus with his Lute (Vaughan Williams) and Fidele's Dirge (Peter Wishart).

Brontes and the odd strained reference to Brideshead sounds pretty accurate to me.

What - nothing about Mr Talboys and the cricket match? Or Hornblower? Or Persuasion in the Ready-Made Family? Surely not.

I think the original comment was probably intended as a joke. :)

Unfortunately I didn't hear the lecture myself because I'd been swayed over to the Nelson Side by [livejournal.com profile] coughingbear's promise of colour slides, but I believe the conference proceedings will be available in print and on CD some time next year if that's any help to you. :)

I would also like to know more about this conference. What a pity I didn't know it was happening.

I used to lurk on Yahoo Groups (never got up the courage to post, alas!) and heard about Livejournal from people on there. I found this board because I was looking for other users with Antonia Forrest as an interest. It's a shame it doesn't seem too busy.

I admire your long tailed tit icon.
