Nicola's singing.

Does anybody have any ideas about whether Nicola carries on singing? Since - unlike Lawrie - she is quite disinterested in pursuing a career in it. Her voice has always struck me as the most unlikely thing about her as it is quite at odds with everything else in her character.

No, I doubt she'll sing unless bullied into it, except for singing while working. The voice isn't part of her personality, it's a little like hair colour, though obviously once it was discovered the family made her cultivate it a bit.

I'm not really sure how her voice will turn out when she's grown up. Aled Jones and Charlotte Church are the two classic examples of "star quality" children's voices, but neither of them seem exceptional now - good, but not exceptional. Maybe Nicola didn't want to leave London at first, but I don't see her going back to a city life now - and as you say, she's never shown any great desire to have a music career.
