I discovered this community yesterday when - under the influence of flu-bugs I was attempting to resemble a limp noodle and doing a rather good job of it - something made me google 'Antonia Forest fanfiction'. Lo! here I am.

I actually first started looking two or three years ago for a fan-written sequel to "Run Away Home" and found nada, ny-et, nothing. Everyone I knew seemed to think it odd I liked these 'silly boarding school stories', especially as the author couldn't even set them in one time period! However, I loved them, even though there were many things that were dissimilar to my own boarding experience. I suppose in some ways, I wish that was how school had been for me.

I've always wondered what Nicola went on to do. Did she eventually take Latin and Greek so she could read Homer in the original? Did she end up sailing around the world and, if so, what did she do after that - write a book about it? I'm definitely a romantic and hope that Nicola and Patrick eventually got together.

One thing I'd love to discuss is the relationship between Lawrie and Nicola, and their different personalities.

Click on "fanfiction" on the list on the left. That'll highlight a lot of threads pointing to various fanfiction. Rose & Lizard (aka Ankaret) has written numerous stories of varying lengths, most recently "Term of Duty" about Nicola as games captain. Girlyswot wrote one ("The Voyage") covering the next 40 years. And Forester48 wrote "Esther's Term", which is the direct sequel to "Run Away Home", which unfortunately isn't there any more :-( and I never got round to printing it out :-( so hard luck.

Anyway, there's enough to keep you busy! Welcome aboard.

Gosh, that was fabulous! But of course one is now aching to see what happens next. Not to mention infuriated with Patrick, bu tI can really see how he might have fallen back into the Ginty trap with the boys at his new school seeing her photo and all.

I've got a few ideas for stories myself, but I think I'll be picking people's brains on here as I can't lay my hands on all the books. They were in boxes out in the shed, and I'd been asking The Hubby to bring them in for several years but he didn't get around to it, and also insisted they were nice and dry etc where they were. Dread Spiders inhabited said shed, so I'd not got them out myself. Well... I finally managed to get him to get the boxes out a couple of months back only to find they'd gone mouldy. First Editions. With Covers. Argh! I lost Cricket Term, Attic Term and Peters Room, and can't find Autumn Term and the Marlows and the Traitor.

Anyway, I tend to write fluffy things that are a couple of thousand words at most, rather than long epics.

Yup, the original books we my mother's. Her mother always insisted on covering up dustjackets with wallpaper, so she has a fabulous collection of girls books (e.g. Gwendoline courtney ones such as 'A coronet for Cathy') in practically mint condition. She passed along the Antonia Forest ones to me when I becamse interested in them.

Now she won't give me a thing in case something happens to them. don't blame her, in a way.

Nicola/Patrick

I like to think that Nicola and Patrick ended up together; it is partly why I like Run Away Home so much, although there was clearly another book to be written, the way things are left is quite satisfactory for my imagination!!
