I had the unexpected jolt of a fiction/reality clash today at work when I had to type out Eddi's Service. Couldn't really feed in Corporal Jones into the exercise though...Anyone else had to bite their tongue when Marlow-land overlapped with real life?

A friend of mine has a Facebook friend named something quite like Patrick Merrick -- can't remember exactly what, Pat Merrick or Patrick Meyrick or something. It gives me a turn every time I see him comment on my friend's posts.

Incidentally, have you noticed both his names end in Rick? I can see him ending up being called something ridiculous like Rickrack.

Just found a firm of interior designers in Marlow called Rowan and Hacking. Well, surely Rowan *would* go hacking ... clearly this is a title in the making for a Marlow short story.

I was in church and at the end they had the results of the monthly children's colouring-in competition, which had been won by Esther Frewen.

I know the Marlows are Dorset rather than Cornwall, but all the time we were near Wadebridge I was thinking of it as Wade Abbas - especially when we went pony trekking, when I remembered a particularly annoying Patrick-moment, when he recites that poem all the way home and ignores Nick when she tries to talk to him.

Sorry, but I do think Patrick would be insufferable in real life.
